Making the Arsenal 1910-1931
1910 was the great journey for Arsenal - the journey from bankruptcy at Woolwich to the start of being the most famous club in the world, the dominant force in the 1930s.
So how did it happen in such a short space of time?
The answer lies in a unique document - the diary of Jacko Jones, a columnist with Athletic News, the leading weekly sports paper of the era.
Through his writing Jones got to know the men at Arsenal - including Henry Norris - and although he regularly fell out with Norris and was never his friend, he was always able to report the inside story that no one else had.
Jones wrote a diary, which remained untouched in his house in Norfolk Avenue, Wood Green, until the mid 1950s when it began a journey which finally brought it into my hands.
The Diary of Jacko Jones, which I am now editing for publication, has started to appear regularly at www.blog.woolwicharsenal.co.uk
