In November 2005 Kettering Town, a Conference North club, appointed Paul Gascoigne as manager. 39 days later Kettering Town sacked Paul Gascoigne, after which he gave, what the Scotsman newspaper described as a "rambling, self-contradictory interview on Sky Sports News" which was "almost too pitiful to watch". Later Mr Gascoigne was arrested on suspicion of assault and interviewed by detectives after an incident outside a hotel in Liverpool. The question then is, what on earth were Kettering Town doing, appointing Mr Gascoigne, a gentleman known to have some difficulties in coping with life outside of playing football? It perhaps can be thought of as a one-off error. In 2007 Kettering Town appointed Ron Atkinson, 67, as manager. |
