The BBC Sky dub Arsenal Guardian Sunday Times Sky/Sultana Sultana The Sun

The Sun

Home Up

Manchester United went to Saudi Arabia in January 2008.   The Sun said, :

'Manchester United stars were game for a laugh at a right royal home in Riyadh yesterday. Wayne Rooney looked so pleased to escape the cut and thrust of the Premier League that he joined in a traditional dance clutching a knife. The players were all smiles...'

(Meanwhile, on page 8: 'Just another day in broken Britain: Gang kids, 13, knifed boy to death to earn their spurs...')

One of the first things you notice on picking up the Sun is that it treats its readers as if they are absolute morons who have no memory.

Never was this more true than in January 2008 when Newcastle United were looking for a new manager.

12 January.  EXCLUSIVE.  Harry Redknapp wants Jermain Defoe to kick start his Newcastle revolution.  SunSport understands Redknapp will resign at Fratton Park and become Newcastle boss in time for Wednesday's FA Cup replay at stoke.  (In fact Harry didn't, and stayed at Portsmouth)

14 January  EXCLUSIVE.   Another Big Exclusive : Sparky to light up Toon.  Newcastle have told Mark Hughes they want him as boss.  Despite all the talk of Kevin Keegan it is Hughes who has been approached by Toon chair Chris Mort.

16 January: EXCLUSIVE Ho way Deschamps.  Didier Deschamps is the shock new name at the top of Newcastle's wanted list.  Sunsport can reveal agents have arranged for him to fly to England.

16 January: Kevin Keegan signs.
